Start of New Annual Timetable 2022

Start of New Annual Timetable 2022

HTM's new annual timetable comes into effect on Sunday 9 January. Bus and tram departure times are changing. On some lines, we have modified the frequency somewhat to react as well as possible to the number of passengers. HTM has also taken into account diversions and delays caused by various construction work, such as the closure of Utrechtsebaan in January.

One of the savings measures that HTM is going to introduce from January 2022 is the temporary closure of 13 stops. This measure ought to have been introduced in September 2021, but due to the extension of the availability subsidy by the government, this was postponed. In choosing which stops to close, attention was not only paid to the number of passengers that use the stop, but also to the social amenities in the area and the availability of public transport stops nearby. The analyses that HTM conducted for this also revealed that we would attract more passengers by closing the stops because the travel speed would be increased. The closure will last initially for one year, after which we will evaluate the effects of the measure.

A number of stops on tram 16's route will not come back. In 2022, the infrastructure of tram 16 will be prepared in different phases for the arrival of the new trams. For example, the Frankenslag and Van Boetzelaerlaan stops will be combined into the one new Statenkwartier stop.

Bus changes

Due to various construction work in the city in 2022, such as the closure of Utrechtsebaan, more journeys are necessary on certain bus lines. To ensure that we can run a dependable timetable, and because we have to take proper account of the work and rest times of our bus drivers, we are changing the frequency on a number of lines. The released journeys will be used as extras on the bus lines affected by changes to the route or heavy traffic.

Bus 20

  • The frequency will go from six times to five times an hour during rush hour.

Bus 23

  • The frequency between 09:00 and 12:00 will go to four times an hour.
  • The Stuyvesantstraat stop is out of use. The Juliana van Stolberglaan and Laan van NOI Station stops are the nearest alternatives.

Bus 24

  • On Monday to Friday between 07:30-08:30 and between 14:00-17:00, bus 24 will run extra journeys on the section between The Hague Central Station and Mariahoeve Station. These extra journeys are specifically intended for school pupils, because they use bus 24 a lot during these times.

Bus 28

  • Bus 28 will run with natural gas buses rather than electric ones, so that optimum use of bus drivers is possible.

Night network

  • Due to the corona measures, HTM's night buses will not run for the time being.

Changes to stop names

  • The Leidsenhage stop of trams 2, 6 and 19 is changing to Mall of the Netherlands.
  • The In de Bogaard stop of tram 17 and buses 22 and 23 is changing to Bogaard Stadscentrum (City Centre).
